Work Health and Safety Policy
v2.3
Purpose. This policy sets out how Nova protects the health and safety of staff working in its offices, at client sites and on the road.
1.Purpose and scope
Nova staff work at desks, in server rooms, in ceiling spaces, on ladders, in client offices and in vehicles between sites. This policy applies to every worker and every work location and meets the duties of the business under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and equivalent state laws.
2.Commitments
Nova will provide safe equipment, ergonomic workstations, training and supervision, and will consult workers on safety matters. Risks will be assessed before new tasks and controlled using the hierarchy of controls. The business will maintain zero tolerance for working on live electrical equipment.
- Ergonomic assessment for every workstation including home offices
- Ladder and ceiling space work only by trained staff with a second person present
- Electrical installation only by licensed electricians, technicians connect to existing outlets only
- Driving hours limited and fatigue managed on regional trips
- Manual handling aids for servers, racks and printers
3.Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer is accountable for safety. Team leads must implement safe work methods, brief staff before field work and act on hazards. Every worker must follow safe work methods, use the equipment provided and report hazards and incidents on the day they occur.
4.Client sites
Staff must follow the client's site induction and safety rules and Nova's own procedures, whichever is stricter. Server rooms must not be entered alone after hours. Work in ceiling spaces or on roofs must be planned with a risk assessment and a second person.
5.Psychological health
On-call work, incident pressure and difficult client interactions are recognised as psychosocial hazards. On-call rosters will be fair, incident debriefs will be held, and staff will have access to the employee assistance program.
6.Incident reporting and review
Injuries, near misses and hazards must be reported in the Security and Safety Incident Register within 24 hours. This policy will be reviewed annually and after any notifiable incident.
